For Business Chinese today, my group turned in an advertising campaign plan for a ficticious private 2-seater airplane (that we named 势登力 150）. As part of the assignment, we had to come up with a slogan for the plane and after some brainstorming, and input from my girlfriend, we decided on: 一步登天,一路顺风. 势登力,陪您翱翔天空. However, what we did not consider is that in China, apparently you don't wish someone "一路顺风" if they are taking a plane. Roughly, this phrase translates to "may your journey be in the same direction as the wind" (i.e. may you have a smooth journey). However, in the case of planes, you actually want to be going against the wind otherwise you wouldn't get anywhere. Alas...
