Anwar Ibrahim

Today, former Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, Anwar Ibrahim, came to Harvard to talk about modern Islam and its relation to democracy. The talk was filled with quite alot of politician-speak (well, he was a politician after all), but one interesting thing he pointed out was that the separation of religion and state in the Islamic context is often taken to be anti-Islam and hence is often met with much resistance.
